The medieval forge

From Wednesday to Saturday,  from July 12 to August 26, 2023 – continuously from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The blacksmith, an essential character of the lordship, opens the doors of his den where very quickly the fire is activated, the hammer rises and the metal takes shape before your amazed eyes!

 

The blacksmith forges or shapes iron or steel. It is essential to the smooth running of the lordship. The tools andiron objects are omnipresent in medieval life and make these artisans keystones of medieval society.ale.

 

On July 7, 8 and 9 attend the cdesign of a coal mine !

Every Monday from July 10 to August 21; continuously from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Become a builder or bardelier for a few hours and help the medieval artisans of Termes to rebuild the lordship and its artisan village!

THEbardelier is busy manufacturing the tiles which will protect the roof of the forge, while the mason  works at themanufacture and installation of wall cob.

The ceramic workshop

Thursdays July 20 and 27 - Thursdays August 3, 10 and 17 - sessions at 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Come   introduce yourself to ceramics with the making of oil lamps to light your journey through time.

During this workshop, you will discover how lighting was provided from antiquity to the early Middle Ages before learning how to make your own oil lamp that you can keep.

Discover the Tower and lordly life through the satirical and mocking look of the character of Kaspiche, a madman of the King. Kaspiche will tell you the little-known history and curiosities of this medieval Gascon castle.

 

The King's Fool is the symbol of our medieval and popular Academy. He is also a comic character who entertains his king or his lord to whom he is assigned. This colorful character, with a sharp pen, addresses medieval themes with finesse and humor.

At the end of New Year's Eve, a couple from the contemporary world find themselves transported on a sort of "time travel". Mistreated by strange characters straight out of the Middle Ages, this duo finds themselves at the center of parties, dances, and rhythmic songs.mes by Carmina Burana. No less than thirty actors and dancers will bring you to life, not only a certain idea of truculence, excess, and madness... but we will also tell you a story of life, love and destinies crossed. There is here the promise of a journey into the unknown - like some of the protagonists of the show - an adventure in the medieval sense of the term to which the Medieval and Popular Academy of Terms invites you.

The noblest lords of our counties enter the lists dressed in their most beautiful fabrics, displaying their coat of arms which they brandishent fierly.

The list is in place and the lances are ready.

Knights and lords compete in equal joustsare before your eyes. You can cheer on your favorite from the hours, richly decorated wooden stands.

The opportunity for these knights to prove their valor, their courage,their strength and skill on horseback.

2 exceptional evenings where the lord of Termes invites you to attend a knighthood tournament, followed by a medieval banquet concocted by the association "le tai"lloir" by Montaner.

Give yourself the chance to live an experience in complete privacy. Be one of the 15 people who will experience the enchantment of the summit tastings.
7:30 p.m.: advantage of a visit to the privileged tower,
9:00 p.m.: climax tasting at the top, different food/wine pairing each evening, followed by a moment of contemplation of the sunset over the Adour valley.

The medieval festivals of Termes

First weekend of August, an unmissable weekend where Termes relives the moment of two days of its past glory at its medieval peak.

 After a year of absence, a year of war and illness, far from the melodious and festive songs of the troubadours, John I, illustrious son of Roger de Termes, regains his taste for celebration and offers you two days of rejoicing. The allied companies of the county of Armagnac are happy to meet you and share their passion and their know-how.

The festivities start on Saturday at 10 a.m.

 

Catering at the tavern at lunchtime, and a lively medieval evening banquet on Saturday evening (by reservation)!
